Special Interest's
My name is Shauna Hamilton and I am studying for Masters Degree in Psychology and Mental Health at Glasgow Caledonian University. The Title of my final dissertation project is ‘Hearing voices and Self-Agency: An Exploration of Voice Hearer’s Relationship with their Auditory Experiences Using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis’. I am interested in the experiences of those who hear voices and would like to invite males between the ages of 18-65 who have regularly heard voices within the past 12 months and who have not been formerly diagnosed with a mental illness, to take participate in an interview that will last approximately one hour. The interview will be absolutely confidential and all recordings will be destroyed after completion of the project in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Many people who hear voices have found that a turning point in coping with the experience is finding different ways of talking with and understanding them. Exploring the voice’s motives and discovering different ways of relating to them can help change the relationship between the voice-hearer and their voices. It is hoped that by undertaking this research, we can gain a better understanding of the interpersonal ‘world’ of those who ‘hear voices’ and thereby develop new psychological strategies in order that individuals who hear distressing or challenging voices learn to cope with them.
The interviews will take place at Glasgow Caledonian University during the first three weeks of June If you are interested in taking part, you can contact me at my e-mail address which is shamil34@caledonian.ac.uk
Thank you
Shauna Hamilton
